Default BUG REPORT -- WinXP, DVerb, and 9128 error.

Hi All,
This has probably been reported to death, but I'll throw my 2 cents in...

Ever since I upgraded to WinXP and ProTools LE 5.3, I get a 9128 error whenever I use the DVerb setting where the "Room 2" algorithm is checked along with the "small" size setting.

If that setting is used even once in a session, ProTools will pop a 9128 error. CPU usage will bubble along during playback and then suddenly spike, causing the error.

If I change the DVerb setting to ANYTHING else, I don't get the error.

I spent $650 on an upgrade (from PIII 1 GHz, Intel MoBo, 815 chipset, 512 MB RAM....to a P4 2.4 GHz, GigaByte Mobo, 845EP chipset, 512 mb RAM) troubleshooting this bug. Even with a state o' the art PC with half a gig of RAM, CPU usage would still spike.

DIGI, are you aware of this? Is a patch in the works???? Enquiring minds want to know........

xoxoxoxo,
John

I get all sorts of CPU anomalies with D-verb ever since I installed XP on my P3 750. But it really doesn't matter much to me because I don't like D-verb. Ren Verb is nicer.

What really bugs ( ) me is that I can't select which tracks are visable unless the session is in play mode... Weird stuff.

Yeh, the RVerb is way nicer than Dverb. I know they say that it's good to have different flavors to create with, but ever since I got Rverb I haven't been able to use Dverb. Not just cuz the bugs. There's something about the sound that just doesn't sit well with me.

You can get the Ren Col for about $250 and you'll have a much improved reverb, a great compressor, and a very nice EQ. That's action!

The presets on Rverb are allright but they're a little dark for my taste. You can adjust every parameter of this thing, which is another big plus. So until Altiverb is available for PTLE, this is the one.

This is a real bummer for me - I love some of the D-verb settings on drums - not for verb (Have outboard TC and Ren for that) really to add color and dimension to snare drums. Hope they Iron this one out....

ya know, it's funny, I quit using R-Verb 'cause every time I tried to use it I got the 'running out of CPU' error. I also get this with the C4 in the 'Multi Electro Master' setting (or whatever it is).

What's the deal? I have a 2.26GHz Pentium 4 running XP. Isn't that enough?

me too.....I contacted digidesign months and months ago and they told me "we're working on it" and that It wasn't just a problem with dverb that it was actually all of their plugins....that they hadn't been optimized for xp yet. That's something to think about before you release a product for xp. Matt...I agree about the drum stuff..I used to use dverb on drums as well. The Rverb is great, but it seems to be a system hog as well.
