device and channel recognition
Can someone explain why some imported midi files recognize the device and channel so that the appropriate instrument is playing without having to guess the patch for a complex song? Last year, before I upgraded to Pro Tools 6 I could import midi to track and often the file would select my Korg 03R/W and all the channels and instruments to playback the song I wanted. Now, when I import a midi file, no device is selected so I have to select the device and then a different channel for each track, and if the instrument title is not part of the file I'm left to guess which tracks are playing what. Is this just the type of midi file or another problem I'm not considering? I have local control off on keyboard and my Korg 03R/W set to multi mode as described in the manual.
Thanks for any help you can give.
