Automation Disables in Punch-record can't monitor

Hello. I'm using HD Acell PT6.9 on OSX10.3.7. While trying to use pre/post roll to record at a specific location while having a set pre-roll, all volume automation is ignored and track volume is off at infinity. As well, the volume box in the track window is grayed out when record enable is put on. If I make a new track the new track will function normally allowing punch or pre-roll recording. I can't fix or re-set any of the existing tracks in the session to enable monitoring of existing material in a track while in record enable or record. Therefore, I can't use punch-in or pre-roll record in anything but a new track because I can't hear the existing audio. Any ideas as to Sup? Thanks, Fred.

Automation is disabled for record armed tracks -- that's a feature.. otherwise you could have tracks muting the talent or faders changing level while you're recording.
