Grid lines not aligning with tempo map
Hi everyone,
First, I'm sorry if this has already been asked in the forum, I have searched and haven't found the answer to my question. My issue is with 'Identify Beat'.I need to create a click track on songs with a tempo that is slightly changing (it wasn't recorded with a metronome). I tried using Beat Detective but it's a mess : even with isolated drum tracks it still misses some beats, no matter how hard I tried with many different settings. Everyone seem to think it's one of the best tools to work with tracks with a variable tempo, which is why I don't get it... But anyway : I decided to try and do it manually with Identify Beat. The problem is : when I've added all the beats and then switch to Grid Mode, the Grid doesn't match the beats I've just set. You can see on the image below that some of the blue arrows I've put manually with Identify Beat don't match the grid lines. And obviously, the click track follows the Grid and not my tempo map. I don't understand : isn't the point of setting a tempo map manually precisely to set your own Grid so that the click follows the song? It's starting to drive me crazy. Here are a few things I tried/checked after doing researches about it on the internet : - enabling/disabling the conductor in the Transport Windows (seems to me it's not related at all - by the way I also don't get the purpose of the 'Manual Tempo' mode) - check if the Grid was set to Bars and not Min:secs - enabling/disabling the "Follow main time scale" option in the Grid menu I will edit this list if needed. I thank you in advance if you can help me. Last edited by KimWexler; 04-15-2022 at 09:34 AM. Reason: vocabulary |

Re: Grid lines not aligning with tempo map
Hi im not sure that understood well but remember the tempo is an absolute in the timeline. So the first tempo change you want to do is the first one on the left compass 0 so the rest of the song have a custom base and gridlines tied to it. If you change let say compass 45 and place a 130bpm tempo but compass 0 is on 95bpm the grids are gonna be on 95bpm no matter what you choose later. Let me know if I explain myself well.

Re: Grid lines not aligning with tempo map
Make sure that your main counter is set to Bars:Beats. If its set to time, then nothing will line up
