Please help! Inserting track numbers in Jam?
I have recorded a single, 30-minute piece of music for a great band. There are no silences, but there are definitely recognizable "movements," so to speak. After bouncing to disk, I have one 30-minute stereo file. With Jam, I can burn it as one huge track, but I need to put track numbers in periodically so that the listener can skip to the various parts. Can I do this with Jam? Can anyone tell me how? Do I need to get some different software like waveburner? Thanks in advance for any advice -- I'll owe you big.
xo Joe

Re: Please help! Inserting track numbers in Jam?
You cannot do what you need from within Jam. You can:
1. Divide the 30 min file into pieces, with each piece a track ID 2. Use Peak or something and put in regions, which will then show in Jam. ------------------ Will Russell Electric Wilburland Studio http://www.wilburland.com

Re: Please help! Inserting track numbers in Jam?
Hay,
You can import (Apple-Shift-H) this 30 Min. File into a Protools 16 Bit session: it'll become a 16bits-split-stereo-file. Then you can define the track indexes by creating regions (Apple-R), Select all your created regions and export the region-information (Apple-Shift-Y), and the import audio regions which become tracks in Jam: select "regions" in the import-dialog. Hope this helps, Huby |

I never tried Huby's way, but i think i will from now on. Another method is to drag the 30 minute file into jam multiple times and change the start/stop times of each instance to match each song.

Re: Please help! Inserting track numbers in Jam?
This is really easy, and CAN be done in Jam.
Start a new document, and add the audio file as the first track. Edit the track start/end times so that only the first track plays. ie. start 00.00.00 Big_File end 01.00.00 .. if the first 'movement' was 1 min long. Then, add the same file as many times as needed, editing the start/end time to reflect the ids. eg. of entire CD... start 00.00.00 Big_File end 01.00.00 start 01.00.00 Big_File end 04.45.00 start 04.45.00 Big_File end 07.68.00 start 07.68.00 Big_File end 33.00.12 start 33.00.12 Big_File end 35.00.18 Easy!! As long as your track gaps are 0 seconds, the audio will play seamlessly from one song to another. Just like a bought one. m |
