Mic not appearing in Audio Input Path Selector
Hi. My external mic (a Rode Podcaster) is not appearing in my Audio Input Path Selector.
I've selected it through: Setup > Hardware nb at this point I'm thrown from PT to Audio MIDI Set Up, where I get a Audio Devices window. Here the Rode Podcaster is an option. I have clicked on it and selected "use this device for sound input". nb the format is set to 44100.0 Hz which I've not changed. My understanding that having done this the Podcaster should now appear in the interface list in Audio Input Path selector in the track ... but that's not happening for me, and I'm only seeing Built in Microphone 1 and Built in Microphone 2. I'm using version 2018.7.0 on a Macbook Air 13 inch early 2014. Would be massively grateful for your help. EDIT Update: I've tried selecting the Rode Podcaster as the Playback Engine (via Setup) but when I do this I am no longer able to open my project (it gets stuck on Getting Project Information), and infact I don't appear to be able to create a new project either. Perhaps I should have also mentioned above that I'm using El Capitan v 10.11.6 Last edited by urban_spaceman; 06-04-2020 at 11:27 AM. |

Re: Mic not appearing in Audio Input Path Selector
Try holding down the N key while PTF starts, which will reset the audio settings and prompt you with the Playback engine dialog. From there, make sure you choose the Rode as the playback Engine source. You should then be able to choose the input and output in the dropdowns below the main engine.
Once set, try creating a new project and add a new mono audio track. The new Mono track's input should default to the Rode. |

Mic not appearing in Audio Input Path Selector
Pro Tools requires an audio interface that has both an input and an output. The Podcaster is an input only device. The headphone jack onboard simply offers zero-latency confidence monitoring.
Use the Pro Tools Aggregate I/O and set up the appropriate ins and outs for it in audiomidi setup.
