My 'Full Keyboard Access' is not checked and I still have an issue with cursor flickering. When I resize the edit window, it stops the flickering, but whenever I click on a clip, the cursor reverts back to a regular pointer. This isn't normal behaviour

Yeah, there’s nothing that’ll stop the flickering as of now. I just couldn’t even get my other new keyboard to work properly. I would hit the spacebar to get recording to stop and it wouldn’t do anything. Then I read that you have to uncheck FullKeyboardAccess. Once I did that I got my keyboard working correctly. But this flickering is so annoying and AVIDS continual painfully slow response to mission critical issues like this has me trying Logic on a demo. He used to not be able to demo the program but now they’ve got a 90 day demo. But after using ProTools for 15 years, I’m all thumbs.

Looks like I have come to the right place, same issue. WOW so annoying. It's 2023, come on Avid.

Same flickering cursor / selector / zoom tools / offset track selection issue here.

2 x M1 Ultra's + Ventura 13.1 + PT 2022.12

Have stored 2 x Window Configs to quickly resize / restore Edit window immediately following PT open as a workaround.

Resize needs to be no more than a pixel.

I contacted AVID about this. I know that lots of people have already put in for a case number on it. I did the same and they got back and asked for a video to show them what was going on and a system report. I did that they got back today and said for now resize the edit window to see if that will change the flickering.

I totally saw this issue happen in Adobe Premiere on Ventura when Pro Tools was not open. (I know the issue exists prior Ventura, too).

I could just as reproducibly make it happen hopping my mouse cursor over a couple pixels while I edited a video.

The biggest difference between PT and Premiere is the range of pixels to get the cursor flickering in PT is larger, and in Premiere, I could get the cursor tools flashing very rapidly if I left the mouse in just the right pixel.

Also, I repeated much earlier in this thread as others had reported elsewhere, to resize the window. That seems the official answer now as you report.
As I just mentioned, it's not Avid or PT specific issue, really. It happens in other apps. So PT solution aside, it might need an OS fix too! Or some component of the window/cursor management in both apps.

Oh OK good to know. Thank you. I’ll definitely try to resize the window thing in. Perhaps I can get some relief from the insanely jumpy cursor.

i just got off the phone with Avid support and they told me Mac Ventura 13.0.1 is not compatible with pro tools!! Dang. I have to downgrade to Monterey.

Resizing the edit window solved the flickering cursor/tool issue for me as well. Other than that, PT has been working fine for me on Ventura since I updated a few days ago.
