Default Wondering P4

Hi, I´m just wonderng if this configuration is going to work fine or someone would change something.

Mothe Intel 865 GBF
Micro P4 3.00 Ghz 1024 Prescott
2 GB ram (4x512)
HDrive Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 160 GB 8 MB Buffer.
2 17" monitors, with 128 MB video

This is almost my budget... so any suggestion in the same price please.
Thanx

That will work fine. I would suggest however going for the Northwood core Pentium 4 CPU though. The Prescott runs quite substantially hotter than the Northwood meaning more efficient cooling requirements hence noise. The Northwood also outperforms Prescott at this speed 3.0GHz in almost all benchmarks.

The only other thing I would look at is getting yourself another HDD dedicated for recording your audio to.

Good Luck.

my p4 runs great, im loving Hyper Threading now working (i know its still not officially supported)
i have a 3.0GHz northwood
make sure you change the L2 cache size in windows (even more important if u decide to stick with the prescott) - many people over look it and it makes a difference

only thing is make sure you have a seperate hard disk for audio
intel motherboards are the best way to go for a P4 system
you dont need an incredibly specky vidio card for duel monitor anymore
