Error 7100 and Error 4, tracks have no voices help

I'm running PT 6.9.1 on OSX 10.3.8 and have been having no problems so far. Today I tried to install the free izotope Vinyl plugin, that i've used on my LE system before, and it worked just fine (pretty sweet plugin for the price) I then tried to duplicate the track that had the vinyl plugin, for ease of editing, and I started to get these errors, 7100 and 4. Then certain tracks stop outputting a signal. I tried moving the audio to another track, and no change. I tried creating a new session, and importing my tracks (minus some that I had deactivated prior to all this) and the same problem. I tried deleting prefs, deleting digidesign databases folders, nothing. I reinstalled pro tools, nothing. I repaired permissions. I completely removed the izotope plugin, maybe it's not fully compatible with 6.9, I dunno. I deleted anything izotope or vinyl related, and still, no audio. I was able to get it to work once, but my plugins were all deactivated, which I reactivated, and it worked, until I reactivated the last one, and i'm back where I started. I don't have many more plugins installed than the HD3 pack, just Waves Z noise, a phone futz plugin, Echo farm, and the izotope vinyl.

Do you think upgrading to 10.4 and PT 7.2 will fix this? My employer is cheap, and doesn't like to spend money, but as it is now, this PT rig is useless, and I just may get him to budge.

Any troubleshooting tips I may have missed?

I know you said you have trashed the prefs and the database files! and re-installed PT? But are you sure you trashed all the prefs and the database file in the digi folder etc!

Try again and pay perticular attention to each stage..

Trash ALL Digidesign/DAE & Pro tools prefs from Mach HD/users/your name/library/prefs. Make sure you get them ALL!

Trash all the database files from all hard drive partitions AND the database file from Mack HD/Library/App support/Digidesign.

Empty trash and re-boot.
repair permissions from disk utility.

Use you Install CD or web installer to un-install Pro tools, install/custom options/uninstall. Now you'll probably need to select the "clean uninstall" option. this will remove all Digidesign stuff!!

Re-boot the mac.
repair permission.

Now install from your CD or web installer and then the latest CS update.

That should give you a totally clean install! DON'T skip any stage!!!!


If that doesn't fit it, then look at your hard drive! has it got plenty of free space, is it in good order, can you try anothet hard drive to test.
