Default 11R Mic Input

Not much documentation in PT or 11R materials about mic input.

Regarding track creation is mono > audio the only way to go?

Any reason to create a stereo track for mic and if so is it possible with 11R?

Is there a mic modeler somewhere on LE?

Compression or effects while recording mic?

Any other mic thoughts would be welcomed.

The mic input is mono, just like the Guitar DI.

You can set the 11R input to mic, then record a stereo out from the 11R. There is no mic modeller, but in the upcoming expansion, there will be a studio quality compressor and some new effects. If you want to record a processed mic signal in stereo, this is the way to do it.

You cannot create a stereo track and set the source to mic input (unprocessed). To be fair, I don't understand why anybody would want to do this (record a dry mono source in stereo).

I think the mic input was originally created more for reamping rather than using it as a vocal mic.

It's my understanding that with the upcoming expansion pack this has been changed to help accomodate vocal recording as well.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

A micpre is a micpre. To record whatever you want through a mic.

The coming software compressor and other effects are just like other software plugins.
Fine for mixing, but I'll never track/record vocals with software compressors and eq's etc. Always hardware for that kind of thing.

To record in stereo, you will of corse need 2 mics and 2 micpres into a stereo or dual mono tracks.
