Question for hardcore Beat Detectivers
Quite comfortable with it BUT - one problem I always seem to have is deciding when to consolidate.
Do you consolidate as you go? If I wait until the entire track is complete (sometimes 15 drums tracks) my computer chokes on all the fades it has to read. Simple enough question I suppose but I am just wondering if I am missing any obvious tricks. Many thanks Darrin |

Re: Question for hardcore Beat Detectivers
Start off by duplicating all drum tracks for safety, and then BD section-by-section on the dups. Consolidate a section when you're done with it, and move on to the next. Works great for me.

Re: Question for hardcore Beat Detectivers
thanks for the reply
Sounds like the best way - I suppose if there are missed errors on the cosolidation you have the dupped tracks to fix it afterwards - just always hated committing to edited tracks on the fly |

Re: Question for hardcore Beat Detectivers
I use Save As......
one for tracking---original session one labeled BD-----all cut up and finally one labeled Cons-----flattened and all unused regions removed. This keeps everything safe and now with Region Groups it's very easy to go back, make a fix, and get it into the current session. |

Re: Question for hardcore Beat Detectivers
I do it exactly the same as Drew. Even use the same labels for the sessions. |

Re: Question for hardcore Beat Detectivers
Yeah. In order to make your session load quicker and react faster, it's best to get all that stuff out of your session.
Rename and remove those files (not delete) from the session. My computer actually runs quick enuff that I don't need to consolidate until the end. Otherwise, I would also consolidate as I go. I rename the session "Song Name - Drums" before I consolidate. Then I consolidate and remove all the extra takes and little pieces (fades etc.) Then I rename again and move on. Your sessions will load a lot quicker this way. Good luck.
