HP z400 (gen2), mbox pro 3, PT9, win 64 pro
Anyone using this combination?
If yes did you try connecting mbox via front panel 1394 port? were you successful? If no the only approved 1394 card list I could find dates from PT8/mbox2 are the same cards good for PT9? Thanks in advance, /mp |

Re: HP z400 (gen2), mbox pro 3, PT9, win 64 pro
PT9.0.1 installed. mbox connected to front panel 1394 port. PT doesn't seem to see mbox. analog inputs to mbox loop back to monitors but test recordings have no signal in computer. Same result with adobe soundbooth. Also, PT sample recording plays back through computer's speaker not mbox/monitors.
Thoughts on solution? Driver(s) not set up right? front panel 1394 port not valid with PT? Cheaper to throw a few dollars at an approved PCIE firewire card then muck with drivers for a week but can't find PT9 approved card list in knowledge base. Are all the PT8 approved cards good for PT9? sandra report: SiSoftware Sandra Computer Model : HP HP Z400 Workstation Workgroup : WORKGROUP Host Name : mark-HPZ4 User : mark Processor Model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3580 @ 3.33GHz Speed : 3.47GHz Cores per Processor : 4 Unit(s) Threads per Core : 2 Unit(s) Type : Quad-Core Integrated Data Cache : 4x 32kB, Synchronous, Write-Thru, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L2 On-board Cache : 4x 256kB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L3 On-board Cache : 8MB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 16-way, Exclusive, 64 byte line size, 8 threads sharing Computer Mainboard : HP 0AE4h BIOS : HP 786G3 v03.12 09/13/2010 Bus(es) : X-Bus PCI PCIe IMB USB i2c/SMBus Multi-Processor (MP) Support : No Multi-Processor Advanced PIC (APIC) : Yes Total Memory : 6GB ECC DIMM DDR3 Chipset Model : HP X58 I/O Hub Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 3.2GHz (6.38GHz) Chipset Model : HP Core Desktop (Bloomfield) UnCore Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 3.2GHz (6.38GHz) Total Memory : 6GB ECC DIMM DDR3 Channels : 3 Memory Bus Speed : 2x 665MHz (1.33GHz) Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Samsung M391B5673EH1-CH9 2GB ECC DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700E DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : Samsung M391B5673EH1-CH9 2GB ECC DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700E DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : Samsung M391B5673EH1-CH9 2GB ECC DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700E DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Video System Video Adapter : NVIDIA Quadro 4000 (256 SM5.0 810MHz, 2GB, PCIe 2.00 x16) Graphics Processor OpenCL Processor : NVIDIA Quadro 4000 (256SP 8C 810MHz, 2GB) Compute Shader Processor : NVIDIA Quadro 4000 (256SP 810MHz, 2GB) Storage Devices WDC WD1600HLFS-60G6U2 (160GB, SATA300, 3.5", 10000rpm, 16MB Cache) : 149GB (C:) WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 932GB (D:) hp DVD A DH16AAL (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (E:) Logical Storage Devices SYSTEM : 2GB (NTFS) Data 01 (D:) : 932GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) OS (C:) : 147GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD1600HLFS-60G6U2 (160GB, SATA300, 3.5", 10000rpm, 16MB Cache) Optical Drive (E:) : N/A @ hp DVD A DH16AAL (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : HP LPC Interface Controller LPC Legacy Controller 1 : SMSC SCH5317-B Audio Device : HP HD Audio Controller Audio Codec : Realtek Semiconductor 262 High Definition Audio Audio Device : nVidia GF100 High Definition Audio Controller Audio Codec : nVidia Mutara V08 [NV2] Audio Codec : 1 0001h Audio Codec : 1 0001h Disk Controller : HP ICH8R (ICH8) SATA RAID Controller USB Controller 1 : HP USB UHCI Controller #4 USB Controller 2 : HP USB UHCI Controller #5 USB Controller 3 : HP USB UHCI Controller #6 USB Controller 4 : HP USB EHCI Controller #2 USB Controller 5 : HP USB UHCI Controller #1 USB Controller 6 : HP USB UHCI Controller #2 USB Controller 7 : HP USB UHCI Controller #3 USB Controller 8 : HP USB EHCI Controller #1 SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : Intel 801xx/63xx SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Send To Microsoft OneNote 2010 Driver (1200x1200, Colour) Printer : PDF Complete Converter (2400x2400, Colour) Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Printer : Adobe PDF Converter (4000x4000, Colour) Network Services Network Adapter : Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet (Ethernet, 100Mbps) Power Management Mains (AC) Line Status : On-Line Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7600 Platform Compliance : x64 Windows Experience Index Current System : 5.9 |

PT9/MBox Pro 3 approved 1394 cards was Re: HP z400 (gen2), mbox pro 3, PT9, etc
The digidesign (pro tools 8) list of approved PCIe firecards is at:
http://www3.digidesign.com/index.cfm...4&itemid=23113 The list is short; there's only one non-discontinued model: SIIG FireWire 2-Port PCIe Part Numbers: NN-E20012-S2 (RoHS compliant) I've searched the DUC and Avid's website but I cannot find a list of approved firewire cards to connect my mbox pro 3 & computer. Should I go with the above PT8 approved card? The DUC's collected wisdom is greatly appreciated. Regards, /mark |

I've used SIIG in the past with good results...
