Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
A few weeks ago i upgraded to leopard and pt8 le, but hadn't really opened itunes after a session until a few nights ago at which point i realized that the core audio manager wasnt loading for itunes after closing protools. It would load with various other audio apps such as reason and sound factory but wont open with itunes unless I restart the machine. Is this a known issue, or is there a fix for this? Is this happening to anyone else?

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
Happens to me and I just go into setting and flip to Internal Speaker then flip back to 003r and that does it for me.

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
You should not count on the Core Audio Manager auto-launching under Leopard. There are several issues related to Core Audio that we will be addressing in an update, but for now it's best to launch the Core Audio Manager and make sure it shows 'Connected' before launching iTunes (or any other application that you want to use with Core Audio).

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
Based on researching other threads i have taken a few steps including trashing certain preference files, as well as launching core audio before launching itunes and unfortunately even after doing that the core audio manager shows connected but it also shows zero clients and i have no sound coming out of the 003r. Have i missed something? btw thank you for such a quick response.
Well at the moment things are now working normally, although I'm not entirely sure why. After my last failed attempt of launching core audio and then itunes, I restarted at which time i launched itunes on it's own with no issues. I then quit itunes and launched pro tools and decided to set the buffer to 512 which i believe is what core audio defaults to. I then quit protools and launched itunes w/o launching core audio and it worked without problem. Wondering if hardware buffer size was the key, I quit itunes, launched protools again and set the buffer to 128 saved the session and quit protools, and again opened up itunes successfully. So currently everything is working normally and although i have no idea why it's working maybe the above information will helpful to someone who understands core audio more than I.

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
Is your Sound control panel set to Digi HW in the Output tab? It needs to be, as that's where iTunes determines it's output.

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
I just double checked and it is indeed set properly. Perhaps the setting was changed at some point during the upgrade? All i know is that at the moment all is well. I just hope it stays that way. Thanks for your help Digi!

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
I'm in the exact same problem (oh so frustrating) and the fixes aren't working.
I'm on a Dual G5 PowerPC Mac, running PT8, Leopard, and have a Digi002 rack. I manually launch Audio Core Manager. Launch iTunes. And iTunes still doesn't play through my speakers like it used to. (it plays through the internal computer speaker). What else should I do? Argh. |

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
Gregtannen - I am running Protools on exactly the same set up as you. I struggled with this problem and this was my fix: Turn off your computer, turn on the 002 FIRST, then turn on your computer. For some reason when I did that, my computer finally let me set my audio output to 002 and core audio automatically launched with itunes. If this doesn't help then I guess my fix was merely a coincidence. I dunno, give it a try.

Holy Moly. Thanks! Turning the 002 on first before booting up the computer totally worked.

Re: Core audio manager doesnt launch with itunes after using protools
Mine works after I shut down AND turn the 002 on first. It's a pain, as I like to put my computer to "sleep" often. Please fix this, Digi!
