Default How to do \"slow pitch down\" effect in PT?

Newbie here. How can I create a slow down effect in PT? Something similar to a record being slowed down to a stop. I'd also like to be able to do the reverse, start with a low pitch and raise it up over time.

Thanks for any tips.

you could use time expansion. take the section(region) you want to slow down and divide it into smaller sections(regions). slow each section down a little more than the previous one. in order to get a smoother sound use smaller sections. i'm sure there is probably a plug-in that does this slow-down/speed-up effect but i am unaware of it's existance. you may be able to get the desired effect by doing this though. hope this is of use.

I often use the Digidesign Audio Suite Plug-in Vari-Fi for what you speak of. Works quite well for me. You can slow down and speed up, similar to what you could do manually with a record.

Yup, I use Vari-Fi for that, and it works like a charm.

Thanks! This definatly helps. I noticed I had not installed Vari-Fi yet from the PT CD. I guess this is free with PT? I have a reg card with a serial that came with it, I'll check it out tonight.

On the same note, any tips on what would be used to create a hip-hop record scratch type of effect?

Thanks again.

No, not free. It does (or did at one point), however, come with the "Factory Bundle", so if that is what you purchased and you have a reg card for it, you're good to go. (BTW, if you contact Digi, they can deposit an iLok authorization for that for you.)

Serato Scratch might be what you are looking for, though there are a few others as well.

He's looking for "hip-hop record scratch effect" not "dirty old vinyl record scratch effect"
