Default Loudness in RX4 or NUGEN

Hey all,

I was just about to purchase the NUGEN Loudness bundle for the home studio (VisLM and LM Correct is what is staple at the work place) but I was waiting to see what RX4 has to offer. I'd like to get both but for me it is either money spent for the NUGENs or the RX3 advanced to RX4 advanced upgrade.

I really like the NUGENs and the fact that I do not leave PT with LM Correct.
Obviously RX4 offers a bit more. Any opinions on Insight vs VisLM? Any user that might have used both and offer an informed opinion?

The most cost effective way is to update your RX.

Insight is a very good meter and RX4 will do the same job as LM correct.
You have to transfer the file to the standalone but with the new link plugin that's easy.

I have both, but I don't use the Nugen much anymore.

RX4 is worth the price just for the fill creation plugin IMHO. Magic!

Are you sure you can check and fix the loudness of a multi-channel (5.1) file in RX 4?

You can absolutely check multichannel in Insight. (I´ve only tried with 5.1, but I´m confident it handles 7.1 also)

Fixing the level must be done with clip gain (PT). Easy enough.

Good point. Can any RX4 Advanced users out there give this a spin?

I am not disputing that the denoising capabilities of RX4 are great and worth their money. I've been an intense use since RX1.

Nevertheless, in this specific topic I am interested in Loudness aspect and how its new features compare to that, as I was juuuust about ready to go with the NUGEN Loudness bundle.

When I transfer a 5.1 file to RX from PT it imports as 4 mono files and a stereo.
So no, it won't do what you need.

Like lode says clip gain is just as good as LM correct. Its only affecting the overall level, no clever processing going on.

Twisted wave will also do that for you and is very useful for other stuff too and cheap.

But if you need to keep it all in PT, I spose Nugen.

Rx advanced comes with Insight, or used to. And that runs as an insert in real time. Not sure why you'd have to transfer anything to the standalone. And I use rx4 with insight everyday, and it works on 5.1 as well. The new features are very valuable for me. I can't speak to the value of the Nugen stuff, but Insight comes free with RX advanced, so feels like killing two birds with one stone. If you like that sort of thing.

The talk on 5.1 is about LMCorrect. RX4 cannot loudness correct multi-channel files beyond stereo.

My question was initiated because the NUGEN has gained an almost industry-standard status when it comes to both VisLM and LMCorrect. At least in this part of the world.
