There's no special code needed. You need the serial number of your LE hardware, and then from the dealer, you can either buy the PT9 upgrade by itself, or with the discounted Expansion Pack.

If you're talking about the code that recent crossgrade purchasers are due in case they decide to buy the IEP at the same discount that they were offered when they first purchased the crossgrade, they haven't been emailed yet. There's a thread somewhere here about that.

when you go to buy the combo (pt9+exp pack) for $548 it has a line for a promo code in the shopping cart

Is this at Sweetwater? I just checked to see what would happen and didn't see a place that asks for a code. I got to the page where you put your credit card info and didn't go any farther.

There's always a promo code box. Almost every online checkout system has a box for promo codes. Doesn't necessarily mean there is one for that product.
