Hanging notes and midi problems
Hi
Just updated to PT8 for my HD3 system and got a major problem! When I select a plugin on an instrument track and try to play (Ivory, Battery3, Stylus RMX, etc) with it one of these things happen : When I play the midi keyboard there's no sound and then suddenly all the notes come many times (like a loop) and ProTools is "out of reach". I start playing and everythings fine - then suddenly sounds gone and PT freezes for a while - when i "wakes up" all the notes I've been playing comes tumbling out in a weird random order. Has anyone tried this and knows how to solve it? Dennis Lee |

Hi, Remove all the RTAS VI's from the plugins folder mack HD/Library/App support/digidesign/plugins place them into the folder one at a time and see how things run. most likely just one of these plugs could be the issue!! Which midi interface are you using? try reducing the amount of processors used for RTAS playback to an odd number 7/5/3/1 etc. Are these VI's all up to date? What computer are you using? Chris

Re: Hanging notes and midi problems
Hi Chris
Thanx for your feedback! I'm using the Axiom 49 midi keyboard. The VI's are all the latest versions. I'll try to place the plugins one at a time and change the RTAS processor number. I'll be back. Dennis |

Re: Hanging notes and midi problems
Like Chris said, it sounds like either a corrupt plug-in or one that's out of date. Check them as he instructed and see if you can find the offending VI.

Re: Hanging notes and midi problems
It worked!
Thanks so much for the advise. I now got PT to playback without problems after a serious amount of trying out VI's in PT and updating the ones that where outdated. I also found out that PT 8 and leopard does not like wrapped vst's but that's another story. Thanks again! |
