Default CRASH when i try to select MIDI patch

mac g5, os 10.3.9, PT 6.9.1, HD|2, 2 GIG Ram

everytime i try to select a MIDI patch for my Lexicon PCM91 (connected via MIDI and AES) PRO TOOLS crashes. what is odd is, it is ONLY with this unit. i can sucessfully select patches in my Eventide Eclipse, my, Roland XV5050, my Oberheim OB•12, my Ensoniq DP/4. what i do is, in the mix window, on the MIDI track i click on the patch icon in the lower left. when i select the PCM91 on Midi channel 4, connected through my amt|8, PT crashes. other midi channels, i click, and, no problem, opens patch window. i select a patch, the unit responds and i move on.

i tried trashing all prefs, toss databases, rebuilt my AUDIO/MIDI setup. checked my cables...same thing...

never had this with 6.7, started with 6.9. i also don't believe it is session specific; it happens in evry sessio i try this in.

my work around is to go to the edit window and do a patch change command on the MIDI track there. but sometimes that crashes it. yes, i can change the patch by hand, but then i can't save my patch with the session. AND i use midi to contorl the boxes parameters overtime, and in some cases, when it isn't needed for a moment, switch patches in a session.

guess i could try cs2 and/or re-insatll PT and rebuild my MIDI setup again.

It's not quite clear from your post - are you saying that the PCM91 patch selection causes PT to crash ONLY when it's on MIDI channel 4, but on other channels it works fine?

You might want to try replacing the patch file - it may have been corrupted somehow. Also, where did you get the middev and midnam files for the PCM91?

THANKS!! for responding tech support!!!
no, i didn't say that exctly. i have not changed the MIDI channel of the device. but it is more likely the below problem.

now, when i select the PCM91 on a midi channel, PT crashes. rats! more trashing and reconfiguring.

i made it according to your instructions. you are probably right, it does seem like a corrupt file. i will trash it and make a new one. we'll see how that goes. probably will do the trick. if not, i'll post more details.

thanks!
