Default installers in Avid Accounts .. new ones replace older ones .. ??

installers in Avid Accounts .. new ones replace older ones .. ??

hi, i would like to ask if this is the New Way Forward .. when Avid adds a new installer as Updates come out, will the older installers be removed ??

in the past we had all our installers in our accounts ..

can someone from Avid Confirm or Deny ?? now, i download the newest as soon as they come out (deciding to install on my time schedule) so, i am not concerned .. this is for the others that i see making the comments about for example: 12.5 just came out and 12.4 is now not in my account ..

hopefully this can be answered in this One Thread instead of Spread out all over the DUC ..

maybe , Jeffro, Drew, Christopher, Jfreak or one of the other Mod's or Avid Support people can chime in ..

thank you in advance

john

And if you let your subscription expire, wanna bet you won't be able to get an older version for re install?

As for today, the old ones are removed when the new ones arrive.

However,

there has been discussion behind the scenes whether it stays like this or will be changed. Cannot disclose any more information, other than that we have been talking about this topic.

I noticed that since I let the support/plugin plan lapse, the "Value Added" links have disappeared from my account. I purchased a perpetual Avid Space asset yesterday for $99 (including iLok fee) and I really don't need the stompbox plugins (if Avid would sell a perpetual license for say $49 I might be persuaded). As far as support goes, I've gotten most if any support I needed right here on the DUC over the years and am glad to return the favor when I can. Heck, my house burned down once and the support I received from the DUC totaled in the thousands of $$$ which I can never forget or repay.

One thing I've been doing since PT 10 is storing each installer version on a separate drive. That way if I ever need to go back, I have them there.

i do exactly the same thing .. as well as for MAC OS updates .. and every other installer i have ..

separate drive is the best way .. i am actually testing PT12.5 from a USB Toaster type device with a Bare Hard Drive .. working fine ..

Love the hard drive Toaster! Those things are great. Way cheaper than buying external desktop drives.

COMBO updates all the way!!

let me say this .. i just installed 12.5 right over 12.4 BUT i do not have any Avid Drivers as i do not use Avid hardware anymore ... this is my Testing Drive and so far, since PT12 came out i have installed on top of each version without any issues ...
