Default Sample Tank

How dO I run multiple MIDI channels with Sample Tank?
I've gotten sounds on channel 1,
but can't assign other channels simultaneously. Thanks.

You have to load the instruments on to Sampletank and then on each individual MIDI track, assign that track to the Sampletank channel you want it to play.

in the bottom of your smpltnk you have the midi channels (1,2,3,etc.)
press 2 and load yuor new sound, open another midi track,
same as first one, in the out of your new channel put the midi 2
and so on.
cheers

'Tanks' for the response;
I think I've tried that;
it's a version that came with the 002 'bundle';
maybe it won't allow 'multi - MIDI' at once...

It should.Maybe there is a fix on IK's website or something..I don't use the bundled one, but I'm pretty sure you can use more than 1 channel..Even on Sampletank Free you could.

Here's my newbie perspective, for what it's worth:

I have the bundled version and it works fine. I load one instance of SampleTank onto a stereo AUX track, then as I think of new MIDI parts I want, I create a MIDI track, then click on the Out button for that track. It should list 16 SampleTank channels. I pick the next empty one. Then I go back to SampleTank and click on the button (at the bottom) for that channel and load a new instrument. I think you can load multiple instances of SampleTank on separate tracks, but word from this group is that SampleTank uses lots of CPU cycles.

So, everything is going through that one AUX track, which I guess is not ideal. I control levels right on the MIDI tracks themselves (using volume or velocity, depending on what I'm doing). By the way (it took me some time to discover this): you can control almost everything about the SampleTank sounds via controllers on the MIDI track. Each of the effects knobs on SampleTank (reverb, chorus, etc.) is associated with a MIDI controller. You determine which by clicking on the number (level) under each effects knob. The number that comes up is the number of the custom controller, for which you can then create an envelope on the MIDI track. For example, if you want to control the rotary speaker velocity or depth on the B-3 (which adds a ton of realism!), you can assign an envelope to it (and/or a controller on a MIDI keyboard, I think--I don't have one, I program all my MIDI parts one note at a time).

I also use SampleTank for my click track, using one of the drum sets.

Two warnings: (1) SampleTank includes some drum loops, but I found that their tempo labels may not be 100% accurate. For example, one labeled 135 bpm actually was more like 135.25 bpm. (2) I have also read on this group that the SampleTank effects themselves eat up CPU time. I haven't had a problem with this, but be advised, I guess.

Sorry if this is too elementary, but I didn't know all this stuff for a while.

hey, how´s our favorite pilot,
well, i don´t think using smpltnk for a clic
as a good idea, since you have clic instrument
build in PT, but if it works for you...
on the other side, you must put all midi channels
in record so you can monitor all sounds, at least
before you record the midi, it´s strange, did you authorised
it in ik website? as baz said, even in free smpltnk,
you can use all midi tracks,
besides, there´s an upgrade for the bundle ampltnk in the site,
so you can have the 32 voices, if not you´ll only have six,
not really sure ´cause i´m using the full version.
cheers
