CoreAudio Driver Question--- iTunes while PTLE is running?

Ok so....a bit of a noob question here.

I get that the coreAudio driver lets me use my 003 for playback when PTLE is not running.

However, when I fire PTLE it tells me I need to shut down CoreAudio. SO if I have a session open and I want to fire iTunes and listen to an mp3 or an aiff...I can't listen thru the interface.

Or am I missing something?

You can't use PT and Core Audio at the same time. It's a "feature"

You can preview audio thru the workspace browser.

So I can't fire iTunes during an open protools session? Feature?

Let me just guess that there isn't this issue with STP or Logic.

Anyone know about a workaround?

you can launch iTunes while Pro Tools is running, you just can't hear it out of the speakers.

Core Audio uses the Pro Tools hardware. If Pro Tools is already using the hardware, iTunes won't. If iTunes is using the hardware, then Pro Tools won't.
