Default MBOX Studio (not so) Hidden Feature

So here's a little Sunday AM Easter Egg for everyone...

Although MBOX Studio is being marketed as having 4 mic pre's, in actuality you have the ability to directly connect 8 microphones without the need for outboard mic pre's! Line inputs 5-8 have the same 60dB gain range as mic inputs 1-4, just no phantom power. Need to mic up drums? We've got you...unless it's Terry Bozzio's kit of course! These are TRS inputs so you just need to use TRS to XLR cables with your dynamic mics. #themoreyouknow

That’s awesome! That said, then can FX Sends 1-2 be used as analog outputs? Please say yes! 😊

Yes, and it's probably better suited for the U4T9 since the FX send is a mono output. You just need a single 1/4in TRS to Male XLR adapter or cable.

That’s great!

I’ve been searching for an answer and had a glimmer of hope watching that video. And also learning that not all outputs are alike! Thank you for validating my hope. I will definitely give it a try.

The good news is I should be receiving this on Tuesday! Original intent was to move it away from all the possible equipment interference. I guess I could have gotten a TS being mono, but figured it would work and if I needed the stereo cable for other use in the future I’d already have one.

Now, I can’t wait to try it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

TRS in the configuration outlined above (TRS to XLR) is simply a balanced cable. It is not stereo.

Looks like you should already have the included adapter.

Yes, it’s just one of those short adapters. I can try it until my cable comes, but will likely get interference from all the gear around the Interface. Nonetheless, this will be great if it works!!

Thanks again!
