A blast is a blast. I got one last night that was very long in duration I made a screen capture and opened the Console (click it, it's tiny.)

Just got several noise blasts today while mixing. These blasts are horrible, especially if you happen to listening back through headphones? What the hell AVID? The only software that has this sort of garbage happening. It's almost comical.

Does anyone have a fix or a possible cause?

It happens on my end when I am starting and stopping playback quickly, or if I have a section looped and I am listening back and forth to A/B something.

It's just a sudden blast of white noise that shocks the hell out of you.

I'm running PT 12.3.1 on OS X El Capitan.

So no one has a fix or cause for this? Avid not chiming in? Sort of a bummer after seeing all these posts with no update.

This is a major bug. It can damage gear as well as ears.

I still have them happen. But less frequently after I added 8 more GB of RAM. I still get a blast sometimes if I play/stop/play; especially without a second or so pause between stop and play. But since the additional RAM I've not had it happen to point if needed to reset the buffer or close and restart the session. Now.....it's entirely possible that's coincidence. But I thought I'd mention it.

Using Pro Tools HD Native (12.3.1).

Main problem I have is when the song is playing, repositioning the playhead, the majority of the time I will get a quick burst of white noise then it will play on as normal. Other times I get a quick "pop" noise like a DC burst or something, then the main outs are in the red, and I can't get any audio to go through main outs. They stay maxed out even when the song is stopped. The cue mix still plays though.... Only way to get main outs back is to quit pro tools and reload the session.

Did get a really loud noise burst like the reverb noise mentioned in this post, only a few days ago, scared the **** out of me, only happened once since I've had this rig... I've had this system for about 2 months... Mac Pro 2013 - 6 core, 32GB ram, Pro Tools Native Thunderbolt, C24...

Thanks!

I also get these blasts frequently. I get the huge reverb blast as well as the very low knocking sound that totally disables audio from playing back.

Sometimes I can get audio back by by making plugins inactive and bringing them back in or by resetting the buffer to another value. I've stopped doing this since each time you get another low rumble. It seems easier to just shut down the whole rig and start over.

It's good to know that there are others out there having this issue. It's not good to know that it still hasn't been fixed.

Yes. I'm just getting ready to make the upgrade to 12 before the price goes up...

But these problems are the main reason for the upgrade! If I don't do it, it will never be fixed because, I don't think they have anymore plans for 11.

GET THIS FIXED!!!

No kidding. I first posted about this issue all the way back in version 10. And all I got was a lot of replies that my plugins probably weren't up to date or my system optimized. I'm amazed it's still happening. And while I'm not happy for all of us experiencing it, I have to admit I'm relieved to finally have company and hope something will finally get fixed.
