Digi 003 console+?

Could there be a 003 console with 8 micpre's on the way?

Looking at my 003, I'm not so sure there is really room for the connectors. Besides, I would rather have 3rd party preamps for a choice of flavors. Why pay for 8 okay pre's when I can use 4 and add 4 high-end pre's? Just my needs speaking as I can certainly understand someone wanting a tidy package.

I thought the same. There's no room for another four preamps. The console version already has it's advantages.

I would prefer one with no preamps and all inputs having the better quality of channels 5-8.

But then again I would prefer many changes, such as the thing working as well as the M-Audio 2626 (low-latency monitoring of external converters, SMUX, etc.) for starters.
