Everytime I use "Save Copy To" to make a session backup to my external drive I get this:
"Lost communication with the audio interface. Please try increasing H/W buffer size or removing some plugins and make sure you have a valid clock source. Press OK to reset device. (-6097)" I want to figure this out before I work on another session as it's become pretty annoying. My cpu meter is about halfway and plugin count isn't high. DAE Playback buffer is set at Level 2(default) and H/W buffer size is at1024 samples since I was in the mixing stage. Does this affect the backup in any way and why does this happen(aside from the obvious reasons implied in the error window)?

I'm no expert here but any time I see a "lost communication" message with a DIGI 002, I suspect the power harness issue. Also, how much free space is available on your audio drive?

![]() Tons. A 250 GB drive with 217 available at present. But, I'm backing up to a different drive, a 160 GB drive with tons of space also. It's not a MDD Mac, it's a Sawtooth Gigabit ethernet with a processor upgrade. I DO have a Firewire PCI though...one of those combos with 3 usbs/2firewire ports. Should I try using that for the backup instead of the native port or is that stricktly and issue with the MDD?

Since I'm getting nowhere with this and the problem persists I'm revising this post. Is there any way to remedy this as it's starting to get annoying. If I get this "Loss of Communication" error does it mean that some files don't back up? I'm always afraid of somehow losing data on the backup because of this.

I have the 002R in native port 1 and the backup drive in port 2. I haven't tried switching ports.

Is that backup drive on port 2 on the computer, or the card?
Can you try connecting the drive to the card and let us know if anything changes? |

It's on the computers' native port 2...not the card.
I will....I'll try it on the PCI in a bit. Thanks for the help. ![]()

So I switched the port on the backup drive from the native 2 to the PCI 1 and didn't get the error on the first "Save copy to".....but, It also managed to not get the error once this afternoon before I switched ports....so I'll be watching this and post again if it comes up. My question is: Why does this have anything to do with the 002R? Why should the rack lose connection when the info is coming out of the computer from another firewire port?
