Default Re: Antares Tech Went Back To iLok!

Well since my ilok account is my full name and has a space between my first and last name, Autotune central / Wibu system won't accept this.
It states "Only alphanumeric characters @ special chars_-@.+"

I sent a mail to antarestech and they gave me a solution to enter my mail adres which is known at I-lok. Well that didn't work either.
So another mail sent to antarestech and now it's dead silence...

And only 34 days left... and then what... no working Autotune license anymore?

anyone ideas?

I didn't want to make an new account at ilok, because you can't transfer it.

If you are into Sound quality Auto Tune Pro 9 is sounding better than Melodyne.
I dare to say that Melodyne has ruined the quality of 20 years of lead vocals...
And I am not talking about the artificial tuning vibe but the thing Melodyne do to the vocals. Smearing out harmonics and ruining the "openess" of the voice.
When my hearing was slightly better I could tell which radio hit used Melodyne and which used Auto-Tune.
Also Melodyne has BIG trouble working with "raspy" voices. It is a joke actually. Jumping in octaves when the melody just is stable on the same note...

For me, they both have a place.

I would say that if Melodyne is not completely change their core technology they will run out of business within a few years.
Look into the AI-based vocal apps coming up (Vocoflex, Kits.ai etc).
You just calculate a "voice-model" from the input audio and then you can change the pitch up and down without any artifacts or formant-calculations.
Also Antares need to pin down what they do good. To be honest it is only pitch correction within +/- 50 cent. All other things they do like harmonizing and throat things. It sounds totally rubbish.
We need an AI based Melodyne application. "AI-Melodyne" will look into the whole vocal track and build a "voice-model" under the hood then our artistic change of pitches will sound extremely natural without artifacts as Melodyne will pick the correct formants from other phrases of the song or just "AI-calculate" them as the algorithm will pick the vocal timbre info from the full vocal track.

I don't know about all of that but you're entitled to your own opinion and assessment of the two. I would have to respectfully disagree. That has not been my experience at all. I find that when it comes to editing/tuning vocals and instruments my choice has always been Melodyne. To my ears the sound quality and the end results is much better than AutoTune. When it comes to tuning live or tracking to commit, or even if I'm just looking for that famous Autotune Sound, then yes, it's Autotune Pro. They both have their weaknesses and strengths but to say AutoTune has better sound quality, we will have to agree to disagree on that.

I was speaking specifically to those who are transitioning fully to iLok. They are the ones who can completely remove the CodeMeter software. Wait, I just checked iLok manager and it shows I received an iLok licenses for all of my older Antares 9 version software. AutoTune Access 9, AutoTune EFX+9, and I already had an AutoTune 9 Pro and & key 1 iLok license. That didn't happen for you guys? All of these licenses were deposited/updated on 11/1/2024. I didn't notice this until now because I had them in the hidden tab. I've been using versions 10.

I don't use Autotune so I have no opinion about it, but what comes to Melodyne I agree.

I´ve modified even guitar riffs with it, big interval changes with very natural results.

With the forced switch to iLok,
Antares might be hiding a ''potential'' anti-customer move.

What Antares ''might'' be involved in here, as far as their decision to switch & force people into a non-Transferable iLok license, might very well be so people can't sell their Antares accounts.
Meaning, if they do sell their accounts, well now they can't transfer the iLok, which means the plugins get bricked by force.

So my question everyone is, in the event this is a sinister move my Antares, would you support them?

Would love to discuss.
