Default What is the difference between muting sends and disabling them?

Hi, I was playing around in Pro Tools and noticed there are two ways to prevent a send from sending:1) mute it 2) disable it (CMD+CTRL+CLICK or CTRL+START+CLICK). What are the practical differences here?

Muting will still consume resources

You can automate send mutes.
You can't automate send disable.

Muting a Send or most anything, will still send that signal and, use the computers resources to process that signal, it just won't be sent to the Main Outputs, thus mute. Disabling will bypass all the processing and resource use and is the better way to go if you don't need the Send.

Disabling means taking something out of the mixer, of course you cannot automate what does not exist
