Default running LE 7.0 on hp Duo Core Notebook with MBOX2

I'm another newbie to Pro Tools having issues trying to run PT 7.0 on an hp Pavillion Dual Core notebook... buffer errors on playback. (the operating system held off interruptions....-9093) I did all the troubleshooting tips & optimizing, but still have errors.

Basic system is: MBOX2 + PTLE 7.0 + hp dv6000t series notebook (1G/120G HD) + Windows XP SP2 + 250G FW 800 external pro audio drive. The hp dv6000t Duo Core 2 series notebook uses the Intel T5500 processors & i945 chipset.

From what I have gathered, the only known solution is to disable the dual-core processing. Unfortunately, my hp pavillion does not have the disable option in the BIOS. I also tried switching to single core processing after launching Pro Tools (right click on task bar/task manager/right click on protools.exe in list/affinity.../de-select Core 0 processor, etc.) That stops Pro Tools in it's tracks unless I also select "1 processor" option in Playback option tab. At that time, Pro Tools runs, but I still get the buffer errors.

I have not tried the HOTFIX download... Has anybody tried this?

I realize now I did not do enough homework before buying the laptop... Fortunately, I still have a few days to return it.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Marc

thanks for reply... I realize now why the hp Pavillion Core 2 Duo laptops are unsupported & nothing but trouble. Just thought there might be a way to make it work. I will return it if I can't get it working by Monday.

-Update: I installed the "hotfix" Windows update, but it didn't help things. Time to CUT BAIT on the hp...
