Default Drum Machines!

Hey people!

I’m planning to bay a Drum Machine that is the most user friendly and the best for the purpose!
Maybe the AKAI MPC series?
I’m also thinking about NI Battery as a Plug In solution!
Does anybody have any experience using these stuff or any other brands?

Thanks for any helping advice!

Hi!!
I have the battery, and uses it a lot.
It´s great, but I did have some troubles with the latency. Once I figured that out it´s working ok.
I did a test that you can read here on the duc.
(Battery latency questions)

The kits included are ok, but you should also go for the "studio drums".
If you program them realistic, it´s hard to tell from the real thing.

Here´s a catch.
If you use it as a stand alone "outside" protools
you can route in multiple outputs on aux-busses with direct connect, no problem. You have to switch between the programs everytime you want to work with Battery though.

But if you want to have it as a plugin with
multiple outputs I think you have to buy "NI studio collection" that also includes B4 and Pro-52. Much more expensive!! That sucks, if you´re only interested in the drums.Much more convenient as a plugin, but the latency gets horendous.

Check out the thread Battery latency questions, I had some inputs from people using other stuff too.
Maybe thats worth looking into.

Good luck

/ Janke

what type of music do you want to make? how long have you been making music or are you just starting out? i have owned an mpc2000 and have been making music on it for 4 years, but as i grow musically it becomes constricting. if you want the mpc to make "beats" on i would reccommend using a computer program like acid or reason instead, thats what i would do if i were just starting out. if you want it for a specific function, i.e. to make drum loops for later use on pro tools, then there are cheaper machines that you an do that with. don't get me wrong, the mpc2000 is a great machine, but hardware is slowly dying, and computers can do much more already. plus, its not as though the mpc2000 has a distinctly special feel like the sp12(the king of that dirty sound). hope i was helpful, answer those questions and i can share more. peace.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Whhaaaaaaaaat? Bad advice!! You can p/u an XL for $800 fully blown w/ a zip these days! You must always remember everything has "it's own sound". Computer based programs like no-reason & facid will never compare to hardware sequencers or beat makers. Computers are just "convenient". I hope the person who started the thread back in 1/03 is listening! LOL
