Help! Tascam Interface, no Input into PT9!

My MacBook Pro ran PT9 and the Tascam US-800 perfectly, no issues.

My MacBook crashed, so I installed ProTools on my new Windows 8 machine.

The PC stats:


Initially, PT9 wouldn't start because the Tascam buffer size doesn't match PT9.

After some research, I installed the ASIO4ALL driver. Now PT9 starts beautifully with no issues after setting the Hardware to ASIO4ALL instead of the Tascam interface.

I can use ProTools fine ecept that it doesn't recognize all the Tascam interface inputs. ASIO4ALL allows 30 inputs, but the Tascam only has 8. I assigned them in the I/O dialog.


I created 8 new mono tracks, which assigned each input to its own track. Tried several recording sources through the interface with tracks enabled for recording. No joy.

I can only get 2 inputs to see any signal, 1 & 2.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the additional interface inputs to function?

More than 2 years later and still having this same issue with PT 11.3.1.

The TASCAM US-800 interface works perfectly with other DAWs, just not wih PT.

I know upgrade is the easy option, but I hate to throw away 6 good multi-use inputs XLR/TRS, when new 2- and 4- input interfaces are running $300 or more.

I am not using the SPDIF inputs, but there's still 6 that work in other DAWs on the same computer.

I am only replying for posterity - or in case anyone else has this issue.

The reason that the TASCAM US-800 interface won't work with PT in Windows is because PT is looking for standard buffer sizes. The US-800 has non-standard buffer sizes, starting with 192. Apparently the Apple system translates that into something PT can understand, but on Windows it's a no.
