Biazare effect with duplicating track

I have a Vox track, no plugs added. I created a duplicate, as I normally do to try different things. It added a weird phase between the two tracks.
I ensured delay comp was on, I've never had this issue before. Anyone else experience it?

Hi Ned, thank you for chiming in, I tried to change the subject of the thread, but as my first sentence says in my post, it's a phase effect. How I would define it... Out of phase. Like two mic's that are, well out of phase from each other. But the the thing is, these are just track duplicates...

If I duplicate a track, all of a sudden I get an out-of-phase effect. I duplicate tracks all the time, i.e. bass tracks mostly, so one bass can get eq'd with some lights, and a bit top distortion and the other with a low pass.

Now when I duplicate tracks, wether it be vocals, or bass, or even a guitar, I get a strong out-of-phase effect. No busses, no routing to effects, nothing going on, just a straight duplicate of the track.

I tried deleting all the I/O (In's / Out's and Busses) and resetting to default. This did not help.

I have not tried trashing prefs yet and will do that now.

I'm wondering if someone has a moment to spin up an audio track, then duplicate it and let me know if they get the same thing (I'm in 2022.10)

I deleted the console I had saved in UAD Console and that resolved the issue on my duplicated bass tracks, but still have the same issue on my vocals.
It definitely has something to do with the UA Console, because I just used my HX Stomp as my playback device and everything was fine. So it's not a PT issue...

It's good you are narrowing it down.

Good luck fully figuring it out!

By the way, how do you turn things on? For example, I believe it's the best practice and result for most interfaces if you connect to the computer and power on the interface before powering on the computer.

Then with the UAD console, I think you would open up that and assure settings before loading up Pro Tools.

It's worthwhile to do/check the above... give everything the best step forward, hopefully.

Hi Ned,

Yes, I power on the Apollo Hardware and UAD software first before firing up PT. I found the problem had something to do with the I/O routing between the Console and PT. Somehow it got changed when I was mucking about with the Virtual I/O in UAD. I deleted the profiles and was able to factory default the UA Console settings.

Also, there was an update to UAD, and after I installed it, all issues went away. So all is good now! Thank you for your input and assistance!
