Default routing other audio apps through mbox?

am i correct in assuming that other audio apps like media player cannot be routed through the mbox.

i have looked in the control panel under "sounds" and cannot find this option

i read about the asio wave driver...but not sure. it reads to me like this cannot be done yet. also checked other posts on this issue

i have vista software

thx

If you go into the Start Menu of Windows, Control Panel, Audio, you can change the audio driver to the Mbox, but I wouldn't suggest it. I tried it with ITunes and the latency caused songs to sound distorted and choppy. So, if I want to listen to music that isn't in Protools, I plug my headphones into my comp.

Jmitchell is correct , but the issue with itunes < being choppy > is a known issue and has been known since 7.6 or 7 i forget.

But you can route out of the mbox,

Unfortunately there is NO Wavedriver for Vista yet - you can only use your Digidesign hardware for playback from applications that support ASIO.
