PCI overload???
Please please help
I use a B/W MAC G3 450,, 500 Mb ram SCSI II disc.. PT 001 LE 5,2,1 When playing/recording even just a few tracks, I get these click sounds (sounding like digital overload) Someone told me it could be PCI overload? with PT open as the only program looking at the "system Usage" window the PCI indicator is constantly in the middle, doesn't move no matter what I do, anybody having any good advise.. I'm really desperate... Thanx Danny

Re: PCI overload???
I have the same setup (except 1Gb ram) and I have had the same problems. Also many
crashes editing video. I am %99 sure that the culprit is the scsi card. For some reason the adaptec scsi card in this machine hogs the pci bus. I took mine out (FINALLY!) and sure enough things have cleared up considerably. Wish I had known 2 years ago. I am using ATA drives right now, but you should be able to use other cards. Believe it or not, faster cards than the adaptec 2904u(?) actually work better. Let me know how it turns out! Allan [email protected] |
