Re: BlackMagic video Out : HD fine but SD jerky
It's been my findings that SD 29.97 out of the Blackmagic is just wrong. Looks almost as if fields are being dropped. The picture quality of HD from the Blackmagic looks fine. We pretty much can't use the Blackmagic cards because we still need to deal with SD.
Blackmagic doesn't seem to be aware of this, even though I've told them. Granted, we're comparing quality on a projector on a large screen, but the Kona card does SD quite nicely by comparison. Sure wish Avid would support the AJA cards..... Danny Caccavo |

Re: BlackMagic video Out : HD fine but SD jerky
So Danny, are you using the Konas in separate machines with VirtualVTR or something similar?
Thanks! Rob Burrell aka mixboy

Re: BlackMagic video Out : HD fine but SD jerky
Hi Danny,
- In your case, are you playing at real 24fps, or 23.976fps? - Has the image any stutter (specially detectable in pans or objects crossing the screen) @24fps? - Do you believe that Kona could be installed in the very same computer where ProTools is running? - In such case, we would simply go to Options > Video out PCIe as we do when Intensity Pro is installed and we'll get video output through Kona? Thanks, Danny. |

Re: BlackMagic video Out : HD fine but SD jerky
'Bought myself a Blackmagic Intensity Pro (PCIe) to be able to work in 24fps and as an upgrade from my Canopus as well. I see the exact same thing: DV or SD-Quicktime is simply awful, but if I upscale the same material to HD, it is razor-sharp. Haven't tried the card with other programs yet, but this definitely is an issue.
Specs: PT8.03cs2 with CT-bundle on 2 x 2.8 Quad core with 10G on 10.6.3 and since yesterday 10.6.4. Intensity has the latest drivers 3.6.3. Any progress on this Digi? |
