Get a project from DP 4 to PT 5.1.1 w/ MOTU OMF??
Hello,
I have a client who has done a bunch of work in DP 4, and now wants to mixdown at my studio. I have a Mix+ system running PT 5.1.1. I also have DP 3.1 but have much more facility in PT, and would prefer to work in Pro Tools. Can we use the OMF utility that apparently comes in DP 4 to get the project to Pro Tools, or will I also need Digitranslator? We do not want to use the "bounce to new audio files" technique for transfer. Thanks for any tips - Steve |

Re: Get a project from DP 4 to PT 5.1.1 w/ MOTU OM
You can export a 16 bit session file directly from DP by using the "save as...OMF file", then using the OMF Tool which comes with ProTools, or you can download it from Digi, you can translate it as a ProTools session. I do it all the time, works great, except it does not translate the plug-in data.
However, if the session is originally 24 bit, and you what to keep it 24 bit, then you need Digitranslator. Hope this helps. |

Re: Get a project from DP 4 to PT 5.1.1 w/ MOTU OM
you won't get any automation data either - DP will allow you to save it to the OMF, but ProTools won't recognize the data, so any pans you've already done will need doing again!
