001, Art Dio, Flying Cow (I know... I know...)
Okay, i know this has been discussed before, but i've searched and i still want more opinions.
the rosetta is not in my price range, nor is any of the lucid stuff i think. to bypass the 001, i'm either gonna get the Art Dio or the Flying cow (or calf, or calves?) i don't need mic pres, i'm mainly concerned with synths going out 1/4 inch into converter and then spdif out into 001. i don't need 8 channels either. Is the Dio better than the Cow? Or does the cow milk the Dio? anyone who has them or has any suggestions, please give me your toooo cents. cl516 |

I am using the ART DI/O and it is a huge improvement over the stock converters and preamps in the 001. Havnt heard the other unit but for the price of the ART unit it is a good buy plus you can bypass it's preamps and plug right into the converters if you ever wanted to.

The Tango24 is a nice A/D converter, plus you get 8 channels of digital I/O. The Tango is about half the price of a Rossetta.

Re: 001, Art Dio, Flying Cow (I know... I know...)
I bought the Flying Cow converters. They were a definite improvement over the ones in my 001. However now that I've heard the higher end units, I'm no longer happy with the FC.
In short, yes the FC will improve your sound some. But if you hold off for GOOD converters later, you might avoid the "50%" solution I went for and then regretted. Never heard the ART thing though. Regards. |
