Ever had Soundminer spot to session not copy file to audio files folder?
Today I had to take a session to another studio from my place for a playback. When I opened it up, some, only some of the sfx spotted to PT from Soundminer were missing. I also took a backup drive with my libraries on it thankfully and was able to relink to those for the playback. I came back to mine a checked and copy files on import was selected in prefs, and I couldn't reproduce it. Everything I either spotted to timeline or dragged from Soundminer on to the timeline was copied into the audio files folder as it should be.
Freak occurence? Act of dog? Bad dream? Anyone else ever had this? Thanks |

Re: Ever had Soundminer spot to session not copy file to audio files folder?
Actually, scratch that, the clips are all there back at my place and on doing a reveal in fonder on one, the missing files are in the audio files folder.....of a completely different session. No idea how that is a thing, I did have a bit of a wierd buggy moment while laying this all up, so maybe something went awry then. I'll put it down to a freak thing, I was going to delete the thread but don't know how to...

Re: Ever had Soundminer spot to session not copy file to audio files folder?
This same thing happened to me the other day!
Soundminer files ended up in a different session Audio Files folder. I've got so used to totally trusting the Soundminer automatic session folder selection, that I don't even look at it any more, but maybe something has changed in the latest release?

Re: Ever had Soundminer spot to session not copy file to audio files folder?
I have found that it relates to the path for the spotting folder. If you don't change your spotting folder or transfer path to match the new session you are working on, then the files spot to the old path.

Re: Ever had Soundminer spot to session not copy file to audio files folder?
Ha! I thought it was just me. So maybe I had a session open, was spotting to it, then closed it and opened the other session that the files went missing in while leaving soundminer open, and it used the path to the previous session rather than it automatically updating.. well at least I'm aware and can check now. I can think of better times to have discovered it than at another studio with 10 clients about to walk in the door, but keeps you on your toes.
