Default original audio still on the trk after another pass

This is the 1st time I've had this problem ,,, I recorded a trk , and later decided to record over it and see if I could get a better mix among the other instruments I had saved both passes ...but, didn't notice the "echo" until after some mixdowns. the automation will not control the 1st take. So, has anyone had such a problem? JF

I read your post twice and am still not clear on what's going on. Maybe post a screen shot? Or drag the audio to a new blank audio track and try again? Is the Brown Derby still open? Been a long time since I...............

I recorded a trk , and then later I re-recorded it ... but didn't notice that the 1st pass was still in the background ... the automation works on the 2nd pass , but I don't have control of the 1st pass .. Brown Derby went down ... what went on @ the derb ,,, ah well JF

It was a fun rock&roll club many years ago. Until someone else offers some advice, I would try dragging the audio to new audio tracks and starting over with no automation.
