Default Mix Hardware with Tiger?

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to help out some out-of-town friends to get an older D24/DSP Farm system (they bought at an auction) working. The cards are in a G3 400 (I believe), and one of their well-meaning friends installed Tiger on the computer. I've purchased a version of PT 6.4.1 for MIX systems from the DigiStore, but from what everyone tells me, the last version of Mac OS that will work with this software is 10.3.8.

Is that carved in stone? Can I install Tiger on this computer and install 6.4.1 and it'll work just fine, or should I call all over the place and try and find a version of Panther?

Any thoughts would be great!!
Cheers, eh?

I'm not sure about the whole OS, but there are portions that are definately not working - like the latest QT.

Give it a try, but I'll bet you will need to go back to 10.3

Digi says it is a no-go. Why don't you try it and let us know.

Digidesign annouced as of June 2004. - No more devolopment for Mix.
If you want to run Tiger you need to upgrade Mix to HD. Digidesign compatability information is carved in stone. Tiger came out almost a year after Digi stopped working on 6.4.1 for Mix.

do a seach on the DUC this topic has been well covered.

And one more thing is case you we wondering MIX systems do NOT work on a G5 either...

Well, I guess that's a pretty resounding NO. I'll see if I can find a version of 10.3.x!
Thanks for the input!
Cheers, eh!

This is false. I use 10.3.9 on a mix system 6.4.1cs4 without any problems.

I do believe you can't go higher than that though.

yes 10.3.9 can be used if you force QT 6.5 to install for picture

also I find 10.3.9 less stable than 10.3.8
