Default SE 2200a or NTK

Need a good vocal recording mic (male and female vocals, fronting primarily acoustic instruments) so I'm ordering either a SE 2200a or an NTK next Wednesday. Budget only for one.
If anyone uses both, or has an informed opinion, please let me know.
Thanks

BTW, i have an SE5K, SE2200, SE1 and SEH3500, i compared a Rode Tube Classic to the SE5K, and could not notice a $700 difference on either male vox or acoustic git.

I have had the 3500 for 4 days now and its my #1 vocal mic now, instead of the 5k..

I reckon the NTK is a brilliant mic. I can't say enough in its praise... it has a quality which breaths life and depth into vocals, acoustic gtr, hand drums, cello, leslie speakers, etc, the list goes on. The only time I've run into limitations with it is as a drum overhead, but that probably says more about the room than the mic. I'm a huge fan.

Just ordered the NTK. Thanks for all the input.

Where, rgriff, righton041, and all, do you have a recommendation for small diaphram condensers for acoustic guitar? Do I really need two?
Thanks as always.

re: NTK -- i love mine, i trust you'll love yours too. i've recorded vocals, sax, flute, trombone and cello with it -- i can't get a bad recording with the thing! i didn't chime in earlier because you wanted people who had both the SE2200a (which i know nothing about) and the NTK...but i'm a very happy ntk user.

re: guitar mics -- like everything, there's 1000 opinions -- i recorded my nephew's jumbo taylor acoustic with a pair of shure sm81s and we're both very happy with the sound. he's a modern folk singer/songwriter -- sort of harry chapin meets david wilcox... (huh? )

do you really need two? no. a friend of mine records his guitar in mono with one of shure's large diaphrams (i can't remember the model number) and puts stereo effects on it and it sounds good to me. experiement with both -- even at the same time. try setting up 2 small condensors about 12-18" in front of the guitar with one pointed near the 12th fret on the fingerboard, the other toward the saddle -- then position your NTK about in the middle of that configuration, maybe 12-18" higher off the floor than the stereo mics and aim it down a bit (sort of "just off" the soundhole). see what you get with a mono and stereo track. place the mics in all kinds of different positions, maybe even crawl around a bit on the floor and listen for "sweet spots".

good luck!
steve

Do you need 2, no. do you want two is the question. I personally ALWAYS track and acoustic guitar in stereo, and my mics of choice are AKG C414B-ULS. they are however LDC, and you asked about SDC, inwhich case I'd reach for a pair of Audio technica 4041's.

I love the pressense of a stereo mic'd acousitc.
