Default Resurrection from 8.0 Old account, new account?

I started with PT almost 10 years ago. Haven't contacted Digi/Avid as far as anything to do with my account for almost as long. Was on 8.0 with digi002 past several years. Got new Mac a few weeks ago running Yosemite, so got all new upgrade stuff. A PT expert friend is coming over tonight to help me install my new system. I purchased 12, new Ilok along with an Apollo Twin duo, and a few new plugins, among them Waves Gold bundle and IK Workstation.

my question has to do with Avid and ilok accounts. I have no idea if I would be able to access my original accounts. Do I need to? Or can I just start from scratch and create new accounts. (I understand I need the serial # from 002 for the 12 upgrade.)
Thanks

Update: I was able to access my old Avid account. Now am curious about how to even find the iLok account.

Do you still have your old iLok?

If so, what licenses are on it? You can check by running iLok License Manager.

There may be some licenses on it that are still useful, if you tell us what you have we can advise you which have updated plugin installers suitable to use with PT12.

As for your iLok account, the key thing is are you still using the same email account? And can you remember/guess the username? If so, you should be able to say you've forgotten the password and have it reset via your email address.

I'm away from my computer at the moment so can't check, but if you can't remember the username you used ...

1) If you run iLok License Manager and put your old iLok in, does it say what iLok username it is registered to?

2) If not, it will definitely say what the iLok's serial number is. You could email iLok and ask them if they can retreive the iLok username details. Hopefully you can convince them that you are that person, which will be easy if you still use the same email address.

I suppose the effort you will go to depends on whether you have old licenses worth retreiving.

Not having access to your old iLok account will not prevent you from using the licenses (e.g. for plug-ins) on the old iLok in PT12. It will merely prevent you from selling (i.e. transfer to another account) the old licenses and transfer licenses from old iLok to new iLok.

What you should NOT do: Don't deposit (or have others deposit) any assets to your old iLok account, even if you remember the user ID. If you can't access your account, you won't be able to transfer the licenses to the iLok.

It seems like you come from PTLE8??? In that case you are in luck, since there is no need to surrender any licenses, residing on the old iLok. If you came from M-Powered, you were kind of lost, because you would have to have access to the existing license (via your old account) in order to surrender it.

If your old account is lost, you should probably start a new one and use that for PT12 and future stuff, and just use the old iLok as it is if you need any licenses from it.

I have a USB hub with 4 dongles: 1. iLok2 for PT and newer plugs. 2. Old iLok with plugs from MPTK and an old factory bundle (I have no iLok account access to this iLok). 3. USB stick with Waves licenses. 4. eLicenser for Cubase. It's a clumsy thingie to have hanging from the PC, but that's the way it is.

Hope you get there.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I waded through it and bottom line am up and running. I think I opened new iLok acct; old iLok holds only licenses for plug ins that are usesless now (?) .(The plugs I bought when I installed 8.0)

Good to hear.

If you install iLok License Manager, you are able to browse the assets on the old iLok. Feel free to list them here if you like. Some of them might have been ported to AAX, and therefore might be able to run on PT12.
