Can a legacy Firewire 410 recording interface be used?
Hi Folks,
I'm brand new to the forum today and not sure if this topic has been covered before. I have a M-Audio Firewire 410 recording interface which I have never used. I bought it ages ago, thinking I would do some live audio recording, but got busy using Sibelius and never installed the software for the 410. Yesterday I searched the Avid driver software download site and learned that there are no drivers available for this device. Then I tried to upload the original software into my Mac mini (with OS 10.15.7 Catalina) and the disc wouldn't mount on my desktop. The external disc drive seemed to recognize it but that was all. Is there any way to use this device now? Thanks for your help. John |

Hi, welcome to the community.
If you cannot find drivers, it is just a fancy doorstop. Sorry. You need to downgrade to a supported OS or buy a new interface that works with current 64-bit systems.

Re: Can a legacy Firewire 410 recording interface be used?
M-Audio retained those devices when Avid sold M-Audio to InMusic.
You can get drivers for it here: https://m-audio.com/support/drivers-search You'll have to look under the Legacy section. The latest Mac driver only supports up to 10.7.4 though. I've used the older M-Audio Project Mix IO which uses the same drivers as the 410 (I think) on Windows 10, and the driver would probably still work on Windows 11 (just a guess). Joel

Re: Can a legacy Firewire 410 recording interface be used?
It's now a doorstop. If you don't find a guy who can compile drivers to newer op.systems. Maybe these guys exists, but the source code....
it works very good with win7ultimate. dawicontrol DC-FW800 PCIe or another TI based firewire card is required. first version win10 works, but not with newer win10 versions I like that, one knob control all outputs volume. I are looking for newer audio interface which have same possibilities + more inputs. Last edited by olavsu1; 12-30-2021 at 06:38 PM. |
