Default Windows 8 Support?

Has anyone successfully installed pro tools on windows 8? Are there other daws that I can use to record using the mbox?I have a project i'm working on and can't make any process because of this issue. Avid refuses to answer any question about this.

Search the forums, there are plenty of people using Pro Tools 10 on Windows 8. You can get it to work, it just isn't supported by Avid.

And just to add, Windows 8 will be officially supported for Pro Tools 11.

Thanks. Is anyone having success using pro tools 8 le on windows 8?That's what i'm currently running. Took my focus of music to focus on education. When I decided to resume recording my computer crashed. I waited awhile to get a new one and I'd thought I would try windows 8.

I had PTLE 8.0.5 running on Win 8 x64 with an Mbox 2 Mini on my auxilliary PC. It worked fine although it was not on my main DAW so I did not really push the system to its limits. I don't recall if earlier versions worked, but 8.0.5 definitely did.

From your initial post, it sounds like your issue is installing PT8 in the first place as opposed to using it. The advice in the Sweetwater link above is important.
