Default Nudging by selection amount?

Hi all,

Just a quickie..

Is it possible to nudge forward or back a selected area (say 2 bars, or whatever i choose to select) within a region by the same amount selected, or do I have to just go by the nudge values in the menu?

Cheers!

Whatever your selection amount is, just enter that value into the nudge display. Then um, nudge.

indeed, but i was wondering if there was a shortcut key or something that allowed me to that. Like in Ableton Live where Ive got a looped selection and press the Up arrow key and it moves the selected loop forward by that exact amount..

Have you looked in the shortcuts documentation? There are a number of 'nudge' shortcuts.

There may be a simpler key command, but one workaround I can think of is this: cut the region (command+x), then move the selection forward by the selections amount (control+option+command+') then paste (command+v). If anyone knows a better way, I'd be eager to hear as well. Also, musicalavtech's idea is a good one too.
