pro tools cannot communicate with 003

Whenever I start working in the morning, I get the error message: pro tools cannot communicate with 003.

I leave my computer on all the time (and the DIgi 003). I quit pro tools and turn off my screen. I have energy saver turned to never, etc, etc.

But everyday, I start my session having to climb under my console and unplug and replug the firewire cable to the 003. Then it usually works, but sometimes takes 2X's. It's a pain when I have a client sitting behind me as you all probably know.

other notes:

- I have swapped firewire cables
- This is actually my 2nd 003 unit - and it did it on both of them. (I sent back the first because of a phantom power issue)
- Digi 003 Rack factory
- Intel 4 core Mac
- I run the digi on the mac's firewire port. I also have a RME FIreface 800 on a different PCIe card on this machine. Although I have tried unplugging that as well and it still does it.

Any other thougths or suggestions are appreciated.

do you use the front or rear FW port ?
the front port on my macpro is completly unusable with 003.
