Default OT - Leonard Cohen Vocal Sound

I'm in the position of trying to get a vocal sound similar to L Cohen on Songs of Love and Hate. Unfortunately I'm not actually using L Cohen for the vocals. So it goes. Anyway, I hear a lot of reverb on there but was wondering if there was any other advice i might get. Tracking with Rode NTK through Avalon and Distressor.

thanks

Try taking a handfull of downers, run yourself a hot bath in a tiled bathroom, with mic cable round neck and razor blade poised at wrist - that should conjur up the desired(!) Cohen atmospherics. - And positively NO SMILING!

Sorry - couldn't resist

Single Malt Scotch and a pack of Pall Mall's should get you halfway there. Truth is, it's all in the voice, as I don't find there's anything too peculiar about the Leonard Cohen vocal recording. A good mic, good preamp and a great reverb. I love Leonard's voice, perfect iPod material on a rainy day in New York City.

Got the scotch covered, guess I'll have to implement a smoking vocalists only policy. I've read an article in TapeOp with his current engineer. I think he typically tracks with a Neumann. Cigarettes are cheaper.

Once again proving there are no technical tricks like talent.

thanks

Then you're gonna have a damn tough time getting his sound.

I guess I should rephrase the question. If you had Mr. Cohen in top form and you wanted to get the same sound as on Songs of Love and Hate what gear/effects would you use to accomplish that. It sounds to me like its just got a lot of reverb. I was wondering if anyone had any other advice.
