I have the original Sonnet and in nearly a year I’ve never heard the fan and I’m using Samsung M.2s which run quite hot. It’s been super fast and super reliable.

The new version also supports double sided M.2s which the original didn’t without a sketchy DIY modification. That meant you were pretty much stuck with Samsung blades.

All four sticks are stripped as one 8TB RAID 0. I’m using the whole thing for Kontakt streaming. For Pro Tools audio I have another stick on a single channel x4 NVMe PCIe adapter. This simply wires the NVMe stick directly into the motherboard’s PCIe bus but only supports one stick. There’s no controller chip or anything. It’s super fast though and gets maximum speed from the NVMe.

Nice. I'll give it a try on raid for one whole volume for tracking and see how it runs.
