UAD Apollo Twin question...
Hi,
I'm thinking of getting this and wondered if anyone who has experience of it can tell me, if I get an ADAT pre to go with it (e.g MOTU 8Pre, Focusrite Octopre etc…). when it is connected do all the ADAT inputs gain the advantage of the realtime plugins on input as well as the built in preamps on the Apollo itself? Any info would be appreciated, thanks Rosco |

Re: UAD Apollo Twin question...
I own an Apollo Twin, and I don't think the Unison plugins i.e. Neve 1073, API Vision will work in realtime on input when using an external preamp connected via ADAT. It's my understanding that the Unison plugins will only function with the 2 preamps on the Twin itself. As far as monitoring with plugins (not unison) on input with preamps connected via ADAT, I've never tried it, but in theory it should work since anything connected to the Twin could be monitored through the Virtual Console.

UAD Apollo Twin question...
Quote:
Yeah - the Unison preamps actually change the impedance of the input - not an emulation of impedance Change And if anyone has ever played with that (a nice pre with input transformer - they will concur it's a world of difference on a mic. And yes the ADAT inputs would not have this functionality- however it's still a really an awesome feature

Re: UAD Apollo Twin question...
Ye, i didn't think you could use the unison plugins on the ADAT inputs.
Although, you can use any of the other plugs, i.e an 1176, LA2A or the like on any of the ADAT inputs. Would this be correct then? Thanks guys, Rosco |

A UA interface owner would have to chime in as to the inputs.....but yeah I don't see why not.
