Default Transferring Prefs to another computer

I have my preferences pretty dialed in on my main studio machine. Does anybody know which pref file(s) I need to copy and replace on my laptop for things like favorite plugins etc.?

By favorites, I mean how you can hold command while selecting a plugin and it appears in the top of the list rather than digging for it.

I know how to copy my 3rd party plugin settings but not the settings for Pro Tools itself.

I'm using OSX 10.8.4

thanks.

I have a great answer.....If you were on Windows. My Trasher program would do that for you

there is a preferences file (Pro Tools Prefs.ptp), a Plugins Database file (InstalledAAXPlugins) and Hardware prefs file (DSIPrefs). Cannot give you exact locations on Mac.

I do this with Wavelab 8 all the time. As I come up with new shortcuts/settings etc., it's really easy to copy that entire settings folder over to my remote computer.

I hope it's the same for PT.

He is using OSX as well. They are all contained in 1 folder in Windows, so prob the same on the OSX side. I would NOT recommend moving the installed plugins folder though. Let it rebuild by itself on the first launch of the install.

Like I could resist the urge to say something!! I dont have THAT much will power!!

Honestly I dont care what OS somebody uses as long as it makes them happy. What I dont like though is people saying how 1 is superior over the other though. That bull....ony is just silliness at this point, no basis in reality!

For the most part those Mac/PC rants are over (in the last several years at least)

But you know I have seen people using that same discussion for intel cpu's over AMD cpu's (I have used both and used to work for AMD in Austin) - like it really is gonna make a difference in how ur mix sounds - ridiculous huh

You would be surprised about how much of that type of stuff I have seen since Mavericks came out for whatever reason. Of course I updated my Mac to Mavericks, but I use PT on the bootcamp partition of it

AMD was the boss for years!! Around 04-05 or so, Shan and I built and started the Opteron thread on here. They were the first multi CPU builds around and 2 cores per CPU!!! at the ridiculously low price of about 900$ PER CPU!!!

This has gotten fairly off topic, I'm guessing that's a no?

I remember there being preference files from back in the days of deleting the pref files to clear up PT bugs.

I am not brave enough to replace any files without any insight about what's what.

I told you a couple posts up what files to look for and what they do. You should be able to find or do a search for them on your computer.
