IRQ and PCI's???

Im having a nightmare getting a firewire card to work in the slot, iv done all the basic tests to confirm funtionality of the slot and card and they both work but just not together, i currently have another card working but just want the additional fire wire ports. thought id post here as i thought may be some one had a similar problem or can make sense or see a problem here

sureno, Can you move the FW add in card to a different open PCI slot and see it that clears things up?

Also have you cleared the CMOS on the board which should force it to rerecognise and reorder the boards the nest time it posts? Some times that will clear up a IRQ conflict also.

Theoretically between Windows "plug n play"and modern MOBOs IRQ conflicts should be a thing of the past yet they still plague us from time to time.

Sometimes some cards just wont work in some slots or with some motherboards. Usually changing slots or using a different brand or chipset add-in card solves the problem
